The Balcony – Overview

group2

Set in a brothel, Jean Genet’s play, The Balcony explores themes related to power, patriarchy, identity, and illusion… functioning as a metaphor for the theatrical nature of politics and the masks people wear in society. Characters assume various roles and personas, blurring the lines between reality and fantasy.

Our production — entitled “Ritual Cabaret Art Brothel” — was a walk-through, immersive experience that took place in the entire Coney Island USA facility, culminating in a 45-minute adaptation of Genet’s play.
